If you would follow after Christ,
Your life you must lay down;
Deny yourself, yes count the cost,
If you would have the crown.
If you would follow after Christ,
All selfishness forsake;
Your heart, your life, to Him must trust,
Your cross each day up-take.
If you would follow after Christ,
Then yield your mind and will;
His love is good, his rule is best,
God’s holy plan fulfil.
If you would follow after Christ,
Then where He goes, go too;
Through every trial, test you must,
From Jesus take your cue.
If you would follow after Christ,
And win the prize at last;
Be pure, be clean, discard all lust,
In all things, Jesus first.
